Week 4: Urban Legend of The Funhouse Mummy

A criminal mastermind from the early 1900's, Elmer McCurdy, was killed in a shootout at a robbery. All the robbery ended up to be was $46 and two bottles of whiskey. Like, was that really worth dying for? Anyways, he was found in a haunted house at the Nu-Pike AMusement Park in Long Beach, California. The camera crew thought that he was "a hanging man" prop. After bumping the props' arm off, they discovered a human bone inside. A funeral director embalmed his body and propped it up in awe of the criminal mastermind's work. At his funeral, people would pay a nickel to see his propped up corpse by putting it in his mouth. After years of this scheme, two men claimed his body to be their brother. But they were really just two carnival promoters looking for a wealthy thrill. They took him on a morbid mystery tour all around America and it finally stopped at Long Beach. He is now buried in Oklahoma. to prevent anyone else taking him on tour, they poured cement over his casket.

Week 3: Song Reflection

Your Shoulders by King&Country

When confusion's my companion
And despair holds me for ransom
I will feel no fear
I know that You are near

When I'm caught deep in the valley
With chaos for my company
I'll find my comfort here
‘Cause I know that You are near

[Chorus:]
My help comes from You
You're right here, pulling me through
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness all on Your shoulders
Your shoulders
My help comes from You
You are my rest, my rescue
I don't have to see to believe that You're lifting me up on Your shoulders
Your shoulders

You mend what once was shattered
And You turn my tears to laughter
Your forgiveness is my fortress
Oh Your mercy is relentless

[Chorus]

My help is from You
Don't have to see it to believe it
My help is from you
Don't have to see it, ‘cause I know, ‘cause I know it's true

[Chorus]

My help is from You
Don't have to see it to believe it
My help is from you
Don't have to see it, ‘cause I know, ‘cause I know it's true

I chose the song Your Shoulders by King&Country because it is my favorite song to listen to when I need strength. God takes all of my worries away with the snap of his fingers and carries it on his shoulders. If you trust God, he will take yours away as well.

I listen to this song a lot because it doesn't only strengthen me, it strengthens my faith. And its really catchy. So if you are looking for a song to give you strength and take away your worries, I definitely recommend this song. You wont regret listening to it (:

Week 2: Bragger

I try my hardest not to be self-conceited so this is going to be hard for me to write about. But I think I know a few things on the top of my head that makes me an awesome person.
My dad tells me all the time of how beautiful of a heart I have. What he means is that I only mean good in all things. If someone needs help, I'll help them. If their self esteem is low, I will try to make it grow. If you know me well, you know that I do random things to make people smile. I will never be less than friendly, unless you have done something that made you lose my desire to be friendly to you. I value my friends and family the most out of everything. If I were the only one to ever live on Earth, I don't know who I'd be today. I depend on people's love and happiness to fuel me. I absorb my surroundings. So If someone close to me isn't happy, I'm not happy. That's just how i am.

Week 1: First Day of My Sophomore Year

This year I am a sophomore. The first day of school I brought in donuts for my Spanish 2 class. Half of them said they didn't want any which is okay because there was more for me! (:
During the first week, my family was waiting for my baby brother, Eden Gene Widner, to be born. It was exciting to wake up everyday thinking that I could be picked up by my grandma to see my baby brother!
It was awesome to come back to school and see my friends again. But the only thing that sucked was how hot it was! everyone was sweaty so there were no hugs, unfortunately.
Our homework has been getting harder and harder. I'm glad that it is more challenging with new material. It made me realize that I'm not going to improve if I go the easy way. Success comes from hard work and dedication.
Being in high school makes me really think about my future and how great I could make it. I want to be a neonatal pediatrics nurse. A job as a neonatal pediatrics nurse allows me to handle new born babies, do check ups on them and make sure they are healthy.
Overall, my first week of school was great. (:
